Entries are now open for South Africa’s most exciting three day stage trail run, the ProNutro AfricanX Trailrun presented by New Balance.
Taking place the weekend of 16 – 18 March 2012, trail running enthusiasts will be pleased to hear that the picturesque town of Kleinmond is once again the venue of choice for this much loved event. According to Michael Meyer, Director of Stillwater Sport & Entertainment, runners can look forward to an exciting experience. “We are very excited to be hosting the event two months earlier in the year. This decision was made to increase the possibility of favourable weather conditions over the weekend which in turn is sure to add to the running experience. Although we were considering a venue change after the 2011 event, the general consensus from our runners was that they really enjoyed the venue and trails and would love to return to Kleinmond in 2012. Our route designers have taken up the challenge, working around the clock to improve old routes, while searching for new and more enjoyable routes. Runners can look forward to being pleasantly surprised in March,” says Meyer.
Teamwork forms an essential part of the ProNutro AfricanX Trailrun presented by New Balance, as participants will have to rely on each other’s experience and expertise in order to complete the route. Teams of two (male/female/mixed) will be seen battling it out on a route varying in distance between 25-35km each day. The three routes have been planned in such a way that the participants will have the opportunity to tackle a different breathtaking scenic route each day, allowing them to enjoy the full diversity of the world-renowned Kogelberg Biosphere. This awe-inspiring trail run stage race will follow a cloverleaf format, which means that runners will finish in Kleinmond on each of the three days. Their accommodation, meals and entertainment will remain in the same place for the duration of the race.
