It was with immense sadness that we were to learn of Soulman Nakedi’s passing. There was indeed a unique soul to the man. He shall certainly be missed and remembered by many.
Soulman Nakedi a presence like no other
Soulman moved to the Cape running scene in the late 80’s. He brought a breath of fresh air to the road running scene when he floated to victory in numerous events.
To me as a coach, I thought it was brilliant, that there was a new yardstick that Cape performances were going to be measured by.
An individual who shall be forever remembered.

Thank you for sharing the news about Soulman Nakedi’s death. I remember Soulman as one of the stars in Bellville Athletic Club and Western Province Athletics in the 1980’s.
So sad to hear about Soulman. An incredible athlete and also a hell of a nice guy.
A true warrior during competitions. In my opinion, Soulman raised the competitive bar in WP, we perceived him as cocky in the beginning. This was the import at the time that we all wanted to beat. There was never going to be an easy or tactical race when he was competing, and when he caught up with you in any part of the race he would sing ‘I hear music playing. That always gave us the chills, I got to know him as a gentle giant on WP trips and an unforgettable weekend in 89’ representing Body Concept in the Great Trail Relay in PE. Monde Tutani would be able to eleborate . One of his favorite Maxwell songs.. Till the cops comes knocking…we all strived but to no avail.. Beasty Boys will understand. Vaya Con Dios Brother… I hear music playing
