Bulelwa Simae wins Stellenbosch 10km<\/p><\/div>\n

The streets of\u00a0 Stellenbosch came alive with excitement on Thursday, 09 August 2012 when over\u00a04900 runners and walkers showed solidarity in celebration of National Woman\u2019s Day by taking part in the Totalsports Ladies Race held annually at Coetzenburg Stadium, Stellenbosch.<\/p>\n

Bulelwa Simae (running for Nedbank) was the Stellenbosch runner to beat.\u00a0 According to Simae the Totalsports Ladies Race was fantastic.\u00a0 \u201cThe route was nice and flat and the weather was just perfect with no rain.\u00a0 I knew that with these conditions I had a chance.\u00a0 It\u2019s actually challenging competing only against ladies.\u00a0 Usually the women hide behind the men, but I was ok with the challenge and really enjoyed chasing them down.\u00a0 Although the race was tough, I am really happy with my performance today.\u00a0 I\u2019ll definitely be back next year,\u201d says Simae, who completed the 10km route in an impressive time of 36minutes25seconds.\u00a0 Thozama April came in 2nd, while Nicole Marais finished 3rd.<\/p>\n

Female pop sensation, Shelley Gordon had the crowds on their feet in Johannesburg and Stellenbosch respectively, serenading ladies once they\u2019d crossed the finish line.<\/p>\n

Runners\/walkers could choose between a fun 5km run\/walk and a 10km run\/walk.<\/p>\n

Early Totalsports Ladies Race entries received an official race T-shirt, while medals were awarded to all finishers.\u00a0 Moms with prams were encouraged to be part of the action on the day, while husbands, family and friends were encouraged to join in on the fun and show support on route.<\/p>\n

All entrants had the opportunity to stock up on energy before the race at the much loved Bokomo Breakfast Zone.<\/p>\n
