Irvette Van Zyl (Nedbank Athletics Club) had a stellar day of running on Saturday, 09 August 2014 claiming the 10km Totalsports Ladies Race Stellenbosch victory in a time of 32 minutes 20 seconds, a new personal best for this inspirational runner who recently returned from injury.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m still in shock,\u201d said a delighted Van Zyl. \u201cI was hoping for a time of 33:15, not once did I expect to achieve a new personal best. Everything just went right today. The route wasn\u2019t easy. There were a lot of turns with a few hills. I knew Rene was close to me. I kept hearing something behind me, but I think it was my pony tail hitting against my sun glasses\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very happy to have won two out of the three Totalsports Ladies Race events this year,\u201d continues Van Zyl. \u201cUnfortunately I would have had to be in two places today had I wanted to win the Johannesburg race as well. I am enjoying running again and am therefore very excited about what lies ahead. Rene and I will be celebrating Women\u2019s Day for the rest of the week here in Stellenbosch\u201d. Rene Kalmer came in second, while Zintle Xiniwe finished third.<\/p>\n

Alternative pop singer\/songwriter and producer, Jimmy Nevis closed off the Women\u2019s Day celebrations by serenading runners and spectators at the Coetzenburg Stadium.<\/p>\n
