Nolene Conrad excited about Cape Town 12 Onerun

Buoyed by the recent prestigious award of IAAF Gold label status, Nolene Conrad spoke eloquently about her excitement for Sunday’s Cape Town 12 Onerun.

Despite recent marathon preparation, winning Two Oceans 21, and an 8 th placing at Vienna in 2:38, Nolene feels her coach has tweaked her training for this fast flat course.
She will have to be fast.

Stillwater with the support of FNB have lured two quality international athletes.

Kenyan Jackline Chepngeno at 25 has produced swift times. 9’05 for 3000m and 31’27 in Durban nearly two years ago.

But the one to beat is Ugangan Stella Chesang. A 2016 Olympics 5000m pedigree and the form just last month of a 10000m gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Backing Nolene’s South African challenge is last year’s Spar Challenge champ Kesa Molotsane.

With wins in Cape Town and PE already this year over 10 km, she is in the flying form essential to win this dash.

Athletes expressed the caution of the notoriously fickle Cape weather when asked for time predictions.

The initial three events have had perfect days culminating in last year’s men’s world best.

A predicted 28 km/hour NNW will assist runners but this could be dampened by the 40 % possibility of rain.

Hopefully that holds off until after 11 am and the massive 13000 enjoy the race and post activities.
