Mundell sets SA Walk Record
Marc Mundell not only qualified for the Olympic Games in the 50km at the World Race Walking Cup in Saransk, Russia on Sunday, 13 May, but also improved his own South African record, crossing the line in 3:57:57.
Team for IAAF World Race Walking Cup
Six athletes have been selected to represent South Africa at the World Race Walking Cup in Saransk, Russia from 12-13 May in the 20km and the 50km race walk. Both these events are Olympic events and any athlete reaching the Qualifying standard once will qualify for the Olympic Games.
Record broken at SA Race walking Championships
The 51 year-old Sandra Steenkamp broke the South African record in the 50km walk on Saturday 8 October at the SA Race walking Championships. The championships took place at the Youngsfield Military Base in Cape Town.
