Nolene Conrad shaved over 30 seconds off her 5000m best at the Koblenz Mini-Internationales meeting in Germany on 23 May, finishing fifth in the process.
Conrad clocked 16:05.98 improving on her previous best of 16:39.12, which she ran in Stellenbosch on 30 April 2011. The 26-year-old from Central Gauteng is getting closer to dipping under the 16min barrier for the first time in this event. Maren Kock (GER) won the race in 15:27.65 with compatriots Simret Restle and Lisa Hahner finishing second and third respectively clocking 15:28.71 and 15:51.41. Fourth place went to Eva Hieblinger-Schutz (AUT) in 15:52.76. The top five all clocked personal bests in the event.
Conrad will compete in the 3000m steeplechase on Saturday, 26 May at the Flanders Cup in Belgium.
