Pistorius and Comrades Marathon honoured

Athletics South Africa wants to congratulate the Comrades Marathon and Oscar Pistorius, both of whom won awards at the Virgin Active Sport Industry Awards 2012 that took place on 23 February at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg.

Men’s title up for grabs at SA Marathon Championships Defending champion Lusapho April will not be competing at the SA Marathon Championships on 5 February leaving the road open for anybody to claim the title.  Instead, he will not run a marathon before the prestigious Olympic Games taking place in August this year.

Ramaala on the brink of history

  South African athlete and 10 000m record holder Hendrick Ramaala made history when he ran the qualifying time which could see him compete in his 5th Olympic Games when he finished the Dubai Marathon in 2:12:22. He now joins a handful of athletes queuing in the selection line.

Top 10 finish for Ramaala in Berlin

South Africa’s very own Hendrick Ramaala secured another top 10 finish after competing at one of the fastest ever Berlin Marathons ever on Sunday 25 September.  This comes despite the fact that he has not competed at any major races for a year.
