Conrad sets PB in Koblenz

Nolene Conrad shaved over 30 seconds off her 5000m best at the Koblenz Mini-Internationales meeting in Germany on 23 May, finishing fifth in the process.

More qualifiers at SA Open

5 May 2012 – Wenda Theron not only reached the Olympic Qualifying A-standard again in the final of the in the women’s 400m hurdles, but also improved the time she clocked in yesterday’s first round at the SA Open Championships.

Theron sets Olympic Standard

4 May 2012 – Wenda Theron dipped under the Olympic Qualifying A-standard time (55.50sec) in the women’s 400m hurdles after edging closer to the time in her last few races.  She won her heat in 55.37sec on the first day of the SA Open Championships at Pilditch Stadium in Pretoria.

Magakwe on SA Record quest

The Central North West athlete Simon Magakwe, is getting closer to breaking the SA 100m record after equalling Johan Rossouw’s 24-year-old record at the SA Student Championships in Johannesburg on Friday 27 April, clocking 10.06sec in the semi-final.

Semenya Qualifies for London

20 April – Caster Semenya became the fifth track and field athlete to qualify for the Olympic Games after dipping under the 2 minute required in the women’s 800m at Yellow Pages III in Pretoria.

Top 8 clubs to battle

Introduced for the first time this year as a competition between the top 8 Track and Field Clubs in South Africa, the Yellow Pages Interclub competition is set to take place at the ABSA Tuks Stadium in Pretoria on Thursday 5 April.

North vs South rivalry continues

Gauteng North are currently leading the points standing after the first Yellow Pages Interprovincial Meeting in Germiston on Saturday 25 February. With the second and final leg in Bellville on 3 March, Athletics Gauteng North will be looking to defend their title from 2011 and to pocket the R100 000 going to the winning province.
