SA Cross Country Trials winner Elroy Gelant will spearhead the 24 member team to represent South Africa at the second CAA Africa Cross Country Championships at Keurboom Park, Cape Town on Sunday 18 March.
Africa descends on Cape Town
For the second time in two years, Africa’s elite will descend onto Cape Town for the running of the 2nd CAA African Cross Country Championships. On 18 March, 2012 some 173 athletes from 19 countries will be racing around the 2km loop at Keurboom Park for the title of African Cross Country Champion.

Gauteng North wins Interprovincial series
Gauteng North’s Gladwin Mzazi and Stephen Makoka dominated the men’s 5000 meters in extremely windy conditions at the final Yellow Pages Interprovincial Meeting in Bellville on 3 March and with this also helped the team win the Yellow Pages Interprovincial series for the second year in a row.
Semenya and Record holders in Bellville
Not only Caster Semenya, but also the SA Record holders in the women’s 3000m steeplechase and women’s triple jump will be in action at the final Yellow Pages Interprovincial in Bellville on 3 March.
Southern Region Cross Country Team
The Southern Region Cross Country Championships is taking place on Saturday 3 March and Athletics South Africa’s selected a senior team to represent South Africa in Mauritius. The team has been selected from the athletes that competed in Potchefstroom at the SA Cross Country Trials on 18 February 2012.
ASA Announces World Indoor Team
The 8th edition of the World Indoor Championships will be taking place in Istanbul, Turkey from 9-11 March 2012, with South Africa sending a team of four to the championships, Elroy Gelant (3000m), Khotso Mokoena (Long Jump) , Lehann Fourie (60mh)and Burger Lamprechts (Shot Put) have been selected for the Indoor Championships.
North vs South rivalry continues
Gauteng North are currently leading the points standing after the first Yellow Pages Interprovincial Meeting in Germiston on Saturday 25 February. With the second and final leg in Bellville on 3 March, Athletics Gauteng North will be looking to defend their title from 2011 and to pocket the R100 000 going to the winning province.

SA Triple Jump Record falls at Yellow Pages Interprovincial The first Yellow Pages Interprovincial in Germiston on Saturday 25 February saw one National record broken, one World Junior Championships qualifier and one World Indoor Championships qualifier.
USSA Team enters Interprovincial
University Sport of South Africa (USSA) has selected a team of 20 athletes for the first Yellow Pages Interprovincial Meeting taking place on Saturday, 25 February 2012.
