Mundell sets SA Walk Record
Marc Mundell not only qualified for the Olympic Games in the 50km at the World Race Walking Cup in Saransk, Russia on Sunday, 13 May, but also improved his own South African record, crossing the line in 3:57:57.
Mokoena and Ramolefi looking to qualify in Doha
Khotso Mokoena and Ruben Ramolefi will have to reach one A-Qualifying standard at an international event by the end of June in order to qualify for the Olympic Games. Both athletes will compete in Doha at the first leg of the Samsung Diamond League on Friday, 11 May 2012.

Evans re-elected to IAU Council
Athletics South Africa President, James Evans, has been re-elected for a further four-year term as the Area Representative for Africa and Oceania on the Executive Council of the International Association of Ultra runners (IAU). He was first elected to the position in 2008.

5 May 2012 – Wenda Theron not only reached the Olympic Qualifying A-standard again in the final of the in the women’s 400m hurdles, but also improved the time she clocked in yesterday’s first round at the SA Open Championships.
Theron sets Olympic Standard
4 May 2012 – Wenda Theron dipped under the Olympic Qualifying A-standard time (55.50sec) in the women’s 400m hurdles after edging closer to the time in her last few races. She won her heat in 55.37sec on the first day of the SA Open Championships at Pilditch Stadium in Pretoria.

The Central North West athlete Simon Magakwe, is getting closer to breaking the SA 100m record after equalling Johan Rossouw’s 24-year-old record at the SA Student Championships in Johannesburg on Friday 27 April, clocking 10.06sec in the semi-final.
Youth Team to Zimbabwe
